END

As we all know, there is a calamity of gigantic proportions happening just 700 miles from the United States. This earthquake has left tens of thousands of people dead and many more injured and homeless waiting for aid.
Soul Strut hosted a series of in house record auctions in 2005 that managed to raise over $100, 000 for the victims of Hurricane Katrina. We hope to recreate such magic to help our dear neighbors in Haiti.
We have decided to let people auction records by starting a thread with a series of responses with bid amounts. The winning bidder will send money to the auctioneer’s charity of choice.
Auctioneer Rules:
Post the Title of Record, Description, Grade, Picture, Sound Clip (optional)
Starting Bid Amount
End Date (up to 7 days)
Charity of Choice
Once You receive proof that the bidder sent money to the charity, please ship the record. Note in the original auction thread that the bidder has donated and the record has been shipped.
You are responsible for all shipping fees.
Bidder Rules:
You must have a forum account
If you are the winning bidder, you must donate the amount of the winning bid to the auctioneer preferred charity. Do not send money to the auctioneer.
You must provide proof of donation. One way to do this is use the sellers email when making the donation. This way the confirmation is sent to the auctioneer.
Thank you and happy bidding.

WAXIDERMY HEATROCKS FOR HAITI -
BACKSTORY: in 2005, our friends at Soulstrut.com — the record collecting site that spawned Waxidermy as a sort of leper colony for aficionados of “weird records that suck” quickly mobilized with “HEATROCKS,” a series of 100+ user-generated record auctions to raise money for relief charities serving victims of Hurricane Katrina. Thanks in part to corporate matching funds, the members of Soulstrut raised over $100,000 and, minus some paypal fees, it all went to help people in need.
Today 50,000 people Haiti are dead, and countless more are injured and homeless. The most basic requirements are needed immediately. Today the world economy is fucked and small, quick efforts like these are more important than ever.
Now is not a time for world-weariness, now is a time to reflect how lucky we are, and to give thanks by sacrificing something we can see in our clearest moments really doesn’t matter that much — these non-essential material possessions we call rare, awesome records.
Everyone can help out just by bidding, but hopefully you can also pull out a desirable record or two and put it up for sale. It is not a contest and everything helps. But the more it hurts, the better it will feel. The people who sold prized records at Soulstrut will testify to this. (Note: We’ll post auction links to Soulstrut the minute new auctions for Haiti begin.)
For many of us, this is the only way to help, so don’t miss out on the opportunity to buy and sell records for a great cause.

I know I know I know it’s about damn time.. So, what are you waiting on? Fan us!
For those of you who still have yet to visit the SOULSTRUT forums, FOR SHAME. I have no idea what’s holding you back already. We have many traditions that we uphold each year, including 2 holidays. Pap day, and Record Day.
Record day is essentially the one day of the year where all discussions have to be record related. We usually share records that we enjoyed throughout the year with an emphasis of turning each other onto rare music. This year was exceptionally well organized, and I was personally turned onto a lot of amazing music. So, I thought it be nice to put together a playlist on this weeks SS radio featuring some of those cuts from record day.
Here’s the Track list of cuts I gathered that you can currently hear on our Rotation. Oh, and BTW if you somehow feel compelled to download any of these cuts for yourself YOU CAN FIND THEM HERE.

How’s it going folks. Now if you’ve been listening to this weeks installment I’m sure you were asking where that deep funk was coming from. Well look no further:

My good friend Steve, the lead guitar player of the Otis Funkmeyer band, has put together an amazing play list of 700 or so of his all-time favorite funk songs. On a personal mission to educate the world on Funk. He’s probably sick just like me of telling normal people about funk music and they only know about Funkadelic and James Brown.
It’s about damn time somebody re-educates this planet. Anyways, he drunkenly agreed to give me permission to play some of these cuts on the station. Any excuse to play some hard ass funk gets a pass in my book. So, I put together a nice little playlist, and I’ll probably continue to do more in the coming weeks.
Also word on the street is The Otis Funkmeyer band has a new upcoming LP in the works. So let’s put Steve on blast! Where’s that new LP gonna drop MAN!
Here’s the tracklist I put together:
1. cyril neville - gossip
2. helene smith - you got to be a man
3. shirley vaughn - escape
4. ann robinson - you did it
5. pass it on - pieces of peace
6. 87th off broadway - cant get enough
7. jean-jacques perrey - e.v.a
8. spanky wilson - you
9. union - strike
10. hank carbo - bad luck
11. delores ealy and the kenyattas - honeydripper
12. creative funk - funk power
13. james brown - the grunt (parts 1 & 2)
14. marva whitney - what do I have to do to prove my love to you
15. bobby byrd - sayin’ it and doin’ it are two different things
16. black on white affair - bold soul sister, bold soul brother
17. barbara king - what i did in the street
18. cyril neville - tell me what’s on your mind
19. foxy - trouble
20. sugar pie desanto - straighten it out with yo man

Alright yall, a yes yes yall.. I’m basically gonna be playing catsup this week. These are all the things I meant to put on the station before we last went down. I’m gonna do this site a little differently from now on. Until I can get some more help. As of now it’s a one man show, and I also have a real life to live(imagine that). I’ll slowly be getting all the old images back up, and from now on. The updates will come in one mega package just like this one. As always, the track lists will appear if we were allowed access to them.
Deejay OM - Blood from my soul

First off we have this really smooth soul mix featured on our front page brought to you by the one Deejay OM.
Deejay OM: “This is a chance to look into the mind, thoughts, and feelings of Deejay OM and experience the soul-wrenching and heart-shattering experience of my “break-up” or “heartbreak” mix. A mix which has great personal meaning, and was made as a means of healing my own pain. It is intended to be a panacea, a medicine which helps to heal others going through the same struggle. I’ve offered it as a free download so that it may spread and help to heal the wounds inflicted by those caught in the heat, or aftermath, of the hearts battle for love.
It is a concept mix which is patterned after the thoughts, feelings, mixed emotions, and changes one goes through once the break-up begins and carries through to the end by dealing with what truly came to be…like it or not, it’s about putting yourself on the line, being heart-broken, and learning to pick yourself up and move on.
Each and every song has been hand picked because of content, feel, and overall message and was then placed in the mix corresponding to the stage of where one is at processing their lost love, and most importantly their own broken heart…music heals….and whether it’s the music and bitter tears of Jesse James, the very rare Jackson 5 song and their hopeful search for something to fill that void in your heart, the anger of the Berwick Players, or the encouraging words of Frankie Beverly to dry your eyes and stop crying…I guarentee this mix will make you feel something deep down within. It is the blood from my soul…music for a heartbreak.”
Dj Kool Breez - Break Fest volume 1

Raj: “It’s been a HOT minute since we got our grubby hands on a sick drum break / loops style mix. What better than an exclusive mix from veteran record collector / DJ Kool Breez from Baltimore? …. lovin’ every minute of it.”
Meistro - Jigawa Groove

This is a really fun mix from Meistro featuring records from his latest trip to Nigeria. I’ll just let a few of his amazing pictures speak for themselves. Check out our original discussion on this HERE.

Now that about does it folks. This week also had a couple of Tricks up its sleeves. Alot of those songs you’re hearing came from 2009’s RECORD DAY. Which was very huge. Also, I’m featuring tracks from OTIS FUNKMEYER’S INFINITE PLAYLIST. I’ll have more information about this shortly.
Alright my fingers are tired.. peace
I finally got the station back up and running. Essentially I had to completly rebuild it on Radionomy. The original station expired from non use, and so now we can be located under the name SOULSTRUT RADIO.
You can now found our live stream HERE.
I’ll update all the track list information in the morning tomorrow.
Well, before I lose anymore of my life working on this station for the day. I’m gonna make myself some Dinner.-spidey
After quite the long hiatus. This place will be re-opening soon..
I don’t have an Iphone to try this out. Someone want to see if this works for me?
